Gardner-White Hosts “Biggest Loser” Auditions!
On Saturday, March 22nd , the Gardner-White Furniture store at Hall and Hayes Roads in Macomb Township hosted open auditions for NBC’s hit reality show “The Biggest Loser”.
To say it was a success would be an understatement. Over 800 people braved the cold and the snow to tryout for the show and to compete for the opportunity of a lifetime. Many showed off their talents and their personality like Mario Rodriquez of Clinton Township. Mario sang and played his harmonica in front of the Casting Directors.
Among the potential perks on the line for some lucky contestant: an all expense paid trip to Hollywood to be on the show, to shed pounds and live a more healthy lifestyle, as well as, a chance to win the grand prize of $250,000 as “ The Biggest Loser”.
Among the recruiters was Ypsilanti resident Peter Thomas, a local guy who lost 185 pounds as a result of his appearance on the show. The 39-year old weighed in at 400 lbs. when he was chosen as a contestant to appear in the show’s second season. Mr. Thomas assisted producers in the casting process and was instrumental in convincing the show’s executives to recruit here in his home state of Michigan.
As a result of the casting call at Gardner-White, producers called about a dozen people back Saturday evening to schedule second interviews, and if any of them make the cut, they'll get the call before May 1. Good luck to all the candidates!
